We find Liam sitting on the back steps of the house, right where Sammy predicted he would be. Having one twin to help you find the other is definitely an asset.

“Can’t I have some privacy?” Liam doesn’t even look up at us when we approach. His voice is strained. “I don’t know what to say, you two. You ought to go away and leave me be for a little bit. Let me get my shit together.”

Sammy moves closer to his brother. “No reason to be like that, Liam. Nobody’s upset.”

“I am,” he says.

“Like I said, no reason to be.” Sammy places a hand on my arm. “Maybe we should just leave him alone like he wants and go back to the cabin.”

That gets Liam’s attention, and he finally looks at us. Glares more like it, his gaze like a laser beam trained on the spot where Sammy is touching my arm.

I extract myself gently from Sammy’s grip and move closer to Liam. Somehow he reminds me of a stray dog that’s been cornered in an alley, ready to fight at the slightest provocation, but only if his survival is threatened.

I get down on my knees in front of him, right there on the ground. Wet cold seeps in through the fabric at my knees, but I don’t care. It’s time to settle this thing once and for all. I lean up and run my hands around his waist, nuzzling up into his chest, not even worrying that his brother is watching. Nothing matters but ending this back-and-forth game we’ve got going on before it kills us both.

I nudge my face up inside his open jacket, find a taut nipple through the thin fabric of his shirt, and gently bite down on it. That’s all it takes.

Liam is on me in a flash, bowling me over onto the ground, wet debris and dirt grinding into my clothes and hair. He covers my mouth with a hungry kiss, licking repeatedly between my lips as he nudges me across the ground with his knee, heedless of the weather and the fact that we have an audience. I moan against him and wrap my legs around his waist, and he grinds down into me with an anguished growl.

From somewhere far away, I hear Sammy’s halting voice. “Um, I’m gonna go now.”

Neither of us acknowledge his words. Instead, Liam bores a hole into me with his dark eyes, and I can tell he wants me more than anyone ever has. And more than he’s ever desired anyone before me. He looks like he’s tumbled into the abyss, free-falling all the way to hell, and he’s determined to enjoy the ride.

I’m weak with desire as he scoops me up and tosses me over his shoulder, slipping in the back door and taking the stairs slowly up to his room. His large palm cups my ass, his fingertips dipping into the space between my cheeks, and he rubs back and forth as if he’s contemplating finally getting in there.
